After a couple of months stripping walls and building shelves, we opened the doors to Interval in July 2024.
We're a small but passionate team, with a love of running (most of the time).
On the face of it, we're just a running shop on the corner of Easter Road, Edinburgh, selling shoes, clothes and gels, lots of gels.
However, our hope is to become a wee bit more than that. To become become a home for runners in Edinburgh and a stop-off for anyone exploring our fine city and beyond.
Somewhere to start, somewhere to return to. A place to chat routes, kit, races, injuries. A place to meet like-minded people. All welcome.
IT'S ONLY RUNNING
Yep, even running shops have philosophies these days. Ours is something like: it's only running. It's one foot in front of the other, sometimes slow, sometimes fast, sometimes long, sometimes short. It's whatever you want it to be.
A lot of people have this idea that running is boring and a bit torturous. But the truth is, once you get out there, you never regret it, do you? Nah, you feel the wind, clock a few things you've never noticed before, come home a bit sweaty, chin a glass of water, eat a load of food, and feel class.
Regardless of why you run, where you run, or how quickly you run, our hope is that this wee shop on Easter Road isn't just about selling t-shirts, shorts, and shoes but instead will become a place for runners to come and chill out, chat about local routes, and meet sound people. Like a pub... but instead of tap lines we have shoes. Maybe some gels too. Yum.
Is that idealistic? Yeah, of course it is. But who cares, I can't imagine anyone is reading this anyway.
